A coworker of mind wanted an island for here kitchen. We bought maple for the legs and the butcher block top and black walnut we had lying around for the skirt and bottom shelf. I was quite happy with the custom design for the legs. I used osmo for the finish on everything but the top. I finished that off with mineral oil. Needless to day she was very happy with the end result.
